Grant Seeking as Integral to a Holistic Development Plan: How Do I Fit In?
Often, the pursuit of grants or institutional funds lies outside the heart of the organizational development process. It is perceived as adjunct, not integral. Staff responsible for the grant writing and reporting functions within an organization can sometimes experience isolation, be misunderstood, or feel cut off from critical information systems within their nonprofit organization. This situation is rarely intentional, and often stems from a lack of education or knowledge about how grant seeking works. This workshop will explore the major tenets of this issue, and equip grantwriters with ideas about how to build internal relations through asking the right questions and, quietly, but effectively, leading systemic change toward enhanced and increased institutional support.
Presenters: Representatives of the Puget Sound Grantwriters Association (PSGA): Leslie Martin Kinkade and Susan P. Clark. Leslie is Development Director of Alpha Supported Living Services in Seattle and former Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager, then Director of Development for the Tacoma Art Museum. She is a former PSGA president. Susan is owner of Susan P. Clark Communications, LLC, and is currently co-president of PSGA.
